Tell me why you look so damned happy even though you only have three legs?
I continued my monologue by explaining to it that: “I have all the arms and legs I was born with so why am I so miserable at this particular moment while you are so damn happy?”

Three legged dogs are literally three legged dogs. As a result of sickness or accident, these dogs had one of their limbs removed. There are also two legged dogs but these are less common.

When such a dog loses one of its limbs, it is always a tragedy to the owner and even more to itself.

And there was Randi, a 3-legged, cross-eyed, permanently brain damaged dog, enjoying life to its fullest.  Still running in circles (even on the leash, which added a challenge to our walks).  If I yelled for her she could hear my  voice but couldn’t  tell where it was coming from (she often run the opposite direction).  She still had no depth perception and could not chew on a piece of meat like other dogs do.

But what makes this dog so interesting is that despite of its loss. It doesn’t stop running. As the wound heals, the dog learns to balance his weight on the remaining three limbs.

They don’t spend a fraction of a second agonizing whether,

Why me?

I can’t run I have only three legs!

Oh look at other dogs, they have four .

They learn to run with three legs and go on to live their best life.

They don’t play the victim.  ddddd

But she was the picture of contentment.  It’s as if she didn’t know she was lacking anything.

I think we all need to stop playing the victim. The victim of the system, victim of others, victims of time, victims of our past and so much more. Because by doing so we are giving our great power to things that don’t even matter.

This poem says it all ,

“When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,

When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,

Count your many blessings, name them one by one,

And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done!”

Lessons I have learned from Randi:

1.When you’re tempted to feel sorry for yourself, look around you.  No matter how bad you have it, there is always someone who has it worse than you.

2.You can always choose to be content; you can also choose not to be content.  Either way, it’s your choice.

So stop playing the fucking victim and speak up,count your blessings , move on & do something about it.

Let us learn and be like the three legged dog.

Talk to you soon

So let’s talk about being in your twenties. Shall we?

People say high school is hard, and it is, but being in your twenties, well, that is a whole new ball game….when you don’t even play sports.

I read a funny meme that was something like, “Being an adult is easy, it’s like riding a bike, except the bike is on fire, the ground is on fire and everything is on fire because you’re in hell.”

Funny, but mostly because there is a part of it that rings true.

You’re twenties can be pretty awful.

When you are in your twenties there is absolutely no specific direction you are pointed in (or everyone is pointing every which way!) and there is probably the biggest scalable differences in people’s life who are of similar ages.

Let me explain:

You have twenty somethings that still live with their parents and have never kept a job, twenty somethings who are just starting college, twenty somethings who are newly married or on their 2nd or 3rd child. You have those making their way up in their career, or those that are still traveling and seeing the world. There are some still going to parties and getting drunk every weekend, and others off starting their own businesses.

Literally there is a twenty something in practically every stage of life.

So we are in the middle of our own little journey looking around at everyone else like, “Well what do I do now?”

Should you be getting married to your boyfriend now that you’re 25? Or you’re only 21 so should you NOT be getting married? Should you be farther along in your career now that you are halfway through your twenties? You’re almost 27, should you have a kid by now? Or should you wait till you are in your thirties altogether before settling down?

The best part about all of this confusion? (Sarcasm assumed.) Everyone wants to answer that question for you!

On one had there are those that will tell you that your twenties are for just figuring things out, for “experimenting” and “finding yourself” (what does that actually mean!?). Then you have those that are looking down on you because you haven’t conquered all these career goals they had in mind for you. Or the ones that tell you, “You need to experience the world!” and you are just trying to pay for Tuesday’s dinner.

So how (the heck!) do you know where YOU should be?

What is the right answer!?!?

Short answer, there isn’t one. Long answer: continue reading.

So why write about this topic? Why do a post on how your twenties are hard? For us all to nod our heads in agreement and then just try to get through them? Not so much.

It’s because I’m tired too.

I know you are looking at “her” and thinking her life is perfect. It’s not. I know that you think “they” have a perfect job or career that “they” love. They don’t. I know you wish you were better, smarter, faster, and had some long list of accomplishments that everyone was jealous of. Is that improper to say? Well let’s say it.

Let’s all admit that we are looking around at everyone else and wanting that life. We are not sure where we stand or if we are even on the right stage but they look like they areso we’re jealous. We wish we could be like them. I wish it. You wish it. Let’s own it. Call it out and move past it.

Because I actually used to sit wishing it for hours a day.

Hours a day.

But here is the thing that you have hopefully learned way before your twenties. Wishing doesn’t work. Birthday candles are fun and sparkly but they don’t “poof” you into the life of your dreams.

In actuality the life of your dreams comes in slowly, with a lot of hard lessons and hard work,  work that no one will notice, no one will care about, and if they do notice it, they will probably tell you it’s futile. They’ll tell you how you can’t have your dream life and disguise it as looking out for you and your future.

They will be wrong.

The work is not glamourous. You don’t dream about the work, you dream about the results. But you have to realize that one has to come first.

It will come in the form of late nights staying in instead of going out to write that novel and your friends won’t understand, or spending all your free time practicing an instrument for a career they don’t think you could have. It will be constantly filtering questions about where you are working and letting them think you are a bum with no job or a crap job, rather than explaining you’re working your butt off everyday to make a business from a blog.

It will be those things that no one sees. Those things that not a lot of people will understand.

Those things will make your twenties great. Those things that build you into the person you’ll be in your thirties, into the family you’ll raise in your forties, the retirement you’ll have in your sixties, the life you’ll lead every day after, and the legacy you’ll leave behind.

Your twenties were made for you to be great.

For you to chase audacious dreams with common sense but a lot more of reckless abandon.

If I could tell you two things right now it would be to stop looking at other people’s lives, and to stop listening to their advice about your own.

You are so much greater than you think you are.

Your twenties are the hardest decade of your life, because you haven’t figured that out yet.

So go, “do you” in the most real sense of the culture cliché.

Millard Ayo

Mentioned as one of the most powerful and highly acclaimed local radio personality ,obviously because of his powerful voice and the talent. His journey started as a presenter at a local TV station ITV.Right now he is conducting one among the most famous radio program known as “amplifier” under Clouds FM.Millard recently got a super deal from Multichoice DSTV as a reporter .and this deal makes him one solid man in the country.
His radio show is listed among the most listened radios shows of all time, among presenters in the country he leads with the most followers on social networks. He keeps it low profile but different sources say he owns some assets .
On his interview with  daily nation blog, he disclosed some things about him that may be of great inspiration to you.  Lets have a critical look at them .

Worked for free

I used to get paid Tsh5,000 (Sh240) per week and would get a salary increment of Tsh5,000 per year. Housemaids were making more money than I did.

Why did you stay for three years?

I needed the experience and I knew this was an opportunity to grow my name and build my CV. I gained a lot that I wouldn’t have got anywhere else. I could produce my own shows and other technical issues.

How were you surviving then?

I was living in a slum called Keko Machungwa for the three years in a house that didn’t have electricity. I would go and iron my clothes at work and sometimes even wash them there.

For most of us bringing your A game to a volunteering job isn’t a know manner. However with a vision, it is something you can do to build trust & familiarize yourself with the work.Using it as a ladder to your desired destination.

Listened to advice

My show was heavy on entertainment and one of the biggest names in blogging in Tanzania, Issa Michuzi, advised me to start a blog. Rapper AY is also a good friend who told me to start blogging about the stories I shared on radio for the sake of those who may have missed them and that was it.

I think having people who that can offer constructive advice is very  important . Allow opinions that will surely improve you . Getting acquainted with people in your working niche , will also provide you with people you can share ideas with.

Build aunthencity

You dont slander or post nudes to get hits, why?

I want to be accountable to the readers and this has really been helpful because people come to my website to confirm if a story is true or not. There are people who will not believe a story is true if I haven’t uploaded it on my site.

I always ensure I get a comment before I post an article on the website. People respect that.

Invest in his career

What is your secret?

Investing in the company. I used to use my last cent to ensure that I covered a story because I knew that if I did not take my blogging seriously, it wouldn’t grow.

That still hasn’t changed, I take some of my writers, and photographers with me to major events like the MAMAs and I pay for their air ticket, accommodation and food. It is not cheap but it is part of the investment.

How many people have you employed?

I have 14.

Is the website making money and how much?

Yes it does. I can’t really say how much but from $10,000 (Sh1 million) a month and above. We have sponsorships, and advertisers. Brands want to be associated with the website from CCM, to Airtel to many others.

You have a lot of followers on social media, over 1.3 million Followers, do you monetise that?

I have to monetise. To post an image on say, my Instagram page (745,000 Followers) goes for $400 (Sh40,000) and a video will be more. It is business at the end of the day.

Don’t you have personal endorsements?

Yes. I have an endorsement from SuperJet, Vodacom and Airtel. It’s about association and I am happy these companies want to be associated with Millard Ayo.

I am speechless.

What are your thoughts on his Rise . Leave that in the comments below.

Its another beautiful day twenties, I hope you are putting time & energy into building a better version of your self. After all you are the only person you are competing with . I would love to thank you for following me & if you like this don’t hesitate to share . Okay as the title says , today i am bringing you things you can do apart from your main activity that will give you an extra penny.

Sell stuff you no longer need.

Start by cleaning your closet. I had a habit of buying stuff simply because it was cheap . So i ended up with shoes , dresses & so many more things that were nice ( thanks to my amazing taste in style) but i never used them. If you are in the same state then you can sell them and earn a profit. You will get more space on your closet too. You can also buy & sell stuff ( especially if you have an eye for things )

Employ your gifts  .

If you are crafty , then you can definitely sell your crafts. Be it paintings , clothes or ornaments. If there is a legal service you can offer like make up,photography , singing at functions , playing piano at functions or if you are good in public speaking. Those are very few. If  you are wondering how something you are passionate about  can make you money. Leave a comment below.

If you are good at a certain subject , teaching part time would be a great way for you to earn some cash . You can either apply to a school or be a home tutor . The discipline you show at work will be your foundation to being hired or deciding whether you are legible to continue teaching .keep that in mind. Apart from academic teaching, you can teach a skill you are good at such as swimming , dancing or crafts.iuygvh

If you are handy, you can offer to clean gardens, gutters or cleaning for a shop or saloon . This isn’t a passive income job where you sit at home while you make money That’s a given. This will take some elbow grease on your part. But you get paid for that elbow grease and you can easily make more than $10 per job depending on the type of work you do. Think about it, one job for a couple of hours or so a weekend can make you a great amount in a month.Start off small by doing some friend’s places. If you do well then there’s a good chance they will hire you again and tell their friends about it

Farming .

This is something that i only discovered recently . Apparently if you have even a small place you can take time to cultivate farm products  . You need to be aware of the demand & have some farming knowledge.

Mary Wickison from talks about mushroom farming and says

“Growing mushrooms can be very lucrative. However, I recommend that you opt for specialist types of mushrooms if you’re looking into cultivation. There is more money to be made from growing ones for medicinal use or the restaurant market. Depending on the type of mushroom you choose, you could harvest some in just 15 weeks, with a yield of up to 4 lbs. per square foot.

Other Tips:

  • Prior to harvest, contact local restaurants and take orders from them for a quick sale.
  • Get a stall at a farmer’s market to grow your reach and your sales.
  • Educate yourself on the best practices for mushroom growing.” 0f8af57e570695b6183e82b7d3d46b09

The last one is something i hear a lot from most people but i have never tried it is completing surveys , testing products & doing online jobs.

That is it . I hope you enjoyed this. What are other ways that you think can make you some cash?Let me know what you think in the comments below. Also share it with your friends and social media.

I am a beginner and I must say as much courage as it takes to take the first step, making it to a mile isn’t a complete slope. The life of a beginner isn’t easy . I am still there. There are days when I wake up and I’m like I don’t need this, there are projects that are not accepted just because they are new. So here I am to talk to your beginning, creative soul. Most of us never heard this. We rarely find this in creative people stories. Let us get into it .

Finish your work .

One of the perks of being a creative person is not being able to finish that drawing, or that poem, or finish any of the things you started. you are not alone. The minute you get a new idea is the minute we ditch our previous. Procrastination? OH YEAH we are all there. I think getting your work finished first clears off your mind and helps you to stop feeling stuck. Keeping at least two days in two weeks to finish at least a thing you haven’t will do the trick.

Build a relationship with your inner critic.

We all have one. Why? Because we know what we have done. Keep that critic locked up as you are begining otherwise it will limit your creativity. When you are done set it out so you can improve with time. Critique yourself harder that anyone will ever will. This brings us to the  third advice.

Your work will RARELY be perfect. (At least in your eyes.)

Do more of what you love.

I am a designer and as much as I would love to design men apparel. I can’t or else I’ll come up with a black scarf.  By putting my time and energy into women accessories and clothing, I just have all this energy flowing. to discover what you love, you are going to go through many paths till you find the one that is stressful enough for you to handle

Embrace the static phase.

Oh the static phase. how we hate it. I am glad I found this quote .I used to think i didnt have it me, i’d do nothing for days feeling stuck & unmotivated.

“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take a while. It’s normal to take a while. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”

I believe you also have tons of advice for creatives especially beginners. Share it with us in the comments below. If you enjoyed this post ,PLEASE SHARE IT.

By investing means doing something that your future self will thank you for.
How can we invest in our   MIND, BODY ,HEART ,SOUL,FINANCES , SKILLS and basically anything that we think we should invest in .In your twenties there are unlimited investments that you can make. I have put together a list of things you can do to invest in yourself. Most of these things are free & can be done in a short time. Persistence of course is very essential.

Read a book.

This is a great way of improving your mind & expanding your thoughts. I prefer reading an actual book rather than on a phone or computer . Studies have shown that staying mentally stimulated can slow the progress of (or possibly even prevent) Alzheimer’s and Dementia, since keeping your brain active and engaged prevents it from losing power. Just like any other muscle in the body, the brain requires exercise to keep it strong and healthy, so the phrase “use it or lose it” is particularly apt when it comes to your mind. Doing puzzles and playing games such as chess have also been found to be helpful with cognitive stimulation.

Exercise & eat healthy .

This not only boosts your self-esteem but also  keeps you energetic .  For purposeful living  our health is a very important aspect. A daily jog , fruit mix and enough water are sure life changing.

Learn a new skill
French, Spanish, swimming, karate, taycondo , computer studies, driving, skating, public speaking , a new recipe, knitting,  & any new skill. A new skill can help you save money, get you a job , it is also  fun and  fulfilling . With the development of IT, we can learn so many things on  our finger tips .

This is my favourite . Visiting a new place at least once a year is a great way to expose yourself to new cultures, enviroment & has a kind of freeing .  Think of all the stories you will have to tell.

Now pack your bags.

Save money .
A piggy bank is really a great way in addition to your bank savings. Put off all change in it & money you wanna save. At the end of the year, you should be a billionaire.

Just kidding but you are probably going to be able to buy something you couldn’t. 😊😊😊

I  believe once knowledgeable one can do many things.

Faith is also very  important. I listen to Terri a very inspiring lady. In one of her talk shows she spoke  of faith .Whether one prays or praises or reads the bible or Quran it increases ones faith and calms them down . Tackling one’s fear  is important thus its good to listen to faith building messages or inspirational messages.

Practice! Practice! Practice! These things go on throughout your life .
Work on your talents , learn & be present.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this one in the comments below
